The middle one is the "Howlin Wolf" Bass. Very upright sounding bass with a very chunky neck - the fingerboard is a solid 1/2 inch of rosewood. It sounds crazy good. They are getting pretty pricey. This one is a NYC Craigslist find and I was lucky enough to get a great deal. It came with a touring roadcase too.

Cool idea Steve. I love your collection. A couple of them are on my list too! Here's mine. Two Gibsons and two Gretsches. The black Thunderject is chambered and very light, just no f-holes!....

Some yummy HB's there. I never connected with the Gretch stuff for some reason but they sure are beautiful. I love that goldtop - if I had a Gibson HB, that's the one I would want - the pickup is really in the right spot for my gigs/ears. Out of all my HB's, the Starfire gets the most action - it really cuts and has a lot of on'board versatility. The Kay and Harmony are woodier and only really see stripped down, coffeehouse and recording gigs.

I play the Thunderjet for my R&R gigs along with my T-Birds. The TV Jones pups in it are incredible and do a noce job for my style and tastes. The LP Gold Top and the big 6072 Gretsch see action in my mellower church band. The Gibson EB-650 doesn't see a lot of action cuz it sounds like a hollow T-Bird! It's got lots of balls and the two TB pups in it growl to the max.

The 68 EB-2 has a busted pup screw and is waiting a minor repair before I play it. I have 4 projects going at once right now, so it'll be awhile before I can get to it. Of course, it sounds like a typical EB-2! The Bari switch is original and works gerat too.
