Anyone got a Karl Hoyt 6 string for sale?? :)

Postby SoloBassSteve » Wed Feb 13, 2008 9:35 am

One of the highlights of the house concert at Bob's for me was getting to play this song on Bob's Hoyt 6 - HOLY SHIT that is one seriously lovely bass. 32" scale, tuned E-F, so well made, great tone, great feel. I was tempted to try and smuggle it out of bob's house... :)

It's definitely got me jonesing for a shortscale 6 string tuned like that! Bob, that bass has GOT the mojo, you's a lucky man!

check it out!

I'd love to try out some more of Karl's basses - both of Bob's are really lovely...

On a related note, I'm thinking of stringing my 6 string fretted E-F - does anyone know of a make of guitard strings that would be long enough for a 35" scale bass? I need a .022 gauge I think....

HI Steve.....

as I recall , I had to order strings especially for that and we had to guess on the gauge.

as for any of my basses FS right now... I haven't heard of any....

If you e-mail me, I might be able to see if there's anything in the woodpile I could slap some strings on for you [smilie=grinning-smiley-044.gif]

Thanks for the wonderful comments about one of my babies......That was a fun pair of basses to build for a great guy! Actually, I lied: that bass with the curly redwood face was a pain in the back-side .. but worth the energy when all was said and done.

Steve, I have two single stainless .020's that were pulled from Ken Smith 7 string sets. The length is 38" from ballend to silk. Could you use those?

Hey Steve,

Check out Warr Guitars (warrguitars.com) for long scale, light gauge strings.
