Mel Schacher

Grand Funk Railroad was the first band I ever fell in love with, and Mel Schacher was my dude for a long time. His big sound was what drove the music, and him, Berry Oakley and John Paul Jones are the guys who inspired me to be a Jazz Bass lover.

I remember having more than a few Grand Funk songs in the set lists of some of my first bands. Mel was a early influence for sure.

How about this photo of Mel playing a Jazz with a mudbucker in it?

great player...HUGE sound! I go see them every year at the local venue. He's been playing his ZON through 2 SVT's and 2/810's. His Jazz bass just sits there for back up now =(
Sorry for the crapy cell phone picture!
