Nice bass...mine has fatstacks but you pull up and it has the single coil option....

The controls are
Vol
pick up blend (neck pick up is forward bridge is back...go figure)
Treble (pull up for passive)
Passive tone control (pull up for front pick up single coil mode)
Bass (pull up for bridge pick up single coil mose)

Not the same league as some here, but it's a very nice player. It's a Dillion VMB500, no longer made. I got it from a friend's music store for cheep since it had been there for so long- frankly I don't know why. Really a nice axe for a working stiff! It's got the tightest neck-pocket I can remember seeing. Saving for a Nordstrand MM5.2 to replace the stock p'up with.

I'm getting used to a five again- between the narrow spacing and the added string, I'm "backwards both ways to Sunday"... but I'm getting it together!

Been playing this Dillion all the time now,and it's a great bass! Sweet player, and I haven't replaced the p'up yet- maybe I won't. I might well be "over" the need for the proper brand on my headstock, since I can't afford to be that way anyway. But even so, may be the next bass I purchase will be another Dillion, if this one is any indication.
John Vinci at Dillion is coming out with another run of T-Birds, and they also will come in a 5... [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif]

A couple other looks at this mostly glossed-over instrument:

I'd love to get my hands on a T-Bird 5.

Here are my latest 5-strings...
The Zon Standard Legacy (import) is a keeper. Really impressed with the overall build and playability.
VERY nice B-string on this 34-inch scale bass. [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

My current 5-Stringer's include 2 Music Man Stingray 5's and a Schecter Elite-5.

PS - I've owned a couple of Dillion VMB500 basses (as the photo above) over the past ten years. I'm sorry that I ever sold them. Gotta get another one for sure.

I am into my Dillion, and it's likely to be a keeper even after I have a Stingray, someday. I will note however about the VMB-500, that the string spacing over the bridge is not on-center over the p'up's pole-peices, like your 'Rays. That is something I'm looking into, and might even get a p'up with a bar-magnet under a cover if it's the only solution. I'm still not sure if it's a real problem though! Nice Stingrays, anyhow!

No, those are the DR flats. I've been REALLY happy with them... Way above and beyond the D'Addario and Rotos. I've tried both.

I like the DR's if I am trying to get a brighter more cutting tone, the sadowsky flats are very similar. I just picked up a new short scale with some big singles installed on it with the intention of throwing on rounds, but you have me rethinking that. Do you have any samples of the Tobias with the DRs?
