Do Acousticores come in shorter scale ...
or will there be a tailpiece designed so as
to use up the excess length of a 34" set ?

I wouldn't know if you've ever played the
Acousticores, but they are SPOOKY. The
sound and the feel are spooky ... even
just tuning up is spooky cuz they keep
on stretching so that even the E-string
isn't it's usually twitchy self but requires
quite a bit of key turning even for small
adjustments.

BTW, it's sorta normal to sand them to
smooth out the RW surface. Use wet &
dry automotive sandpaper. Result is a
lot better feel, less finger noise, and
less FB wear. A case of Less Is More.

New basses are red. Used basses are black.

New custom Rob Allen

Thanks Golem, I actually don't mind the texture of acousticores. I have owned a couple RENs and a Godin that i had strung up with them. That, and I have a classical guitar background.
Most people don't like the "rolling" when fingerpicking those strings, but it never bothered me.

It will be done mid-late december, but I will likely just wait until I am in LA in January and drop by Rob's shop to pick it up and have a beer, get a tour, and play the twins together (Rob's and Mine) to compare.

Clips will be fourthcoming once I get it home.

Well, the bass still needed some finishing touches and decisions so I will have to wait a few more days.

I did have a chance to play it and hang out and drink a beer with Rob:
I will upload non cell phone pics when I can.

Yup. But the high C string more than makes up for it the lack of frets. [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif]

I had a chance to play it as well. I has a great sound for chords with the acousticores. This bass is exactly what I was hoping it would be.

Rob will be offering this model on his website soon, but without the Acousticores I imagine.

If you have ever heard a Turner Ren with these strings, you know they have a really unique sound.
