Dan sourced out the finish to some guy in Cali (don't remember the name) USACG was running way behind and his nitro guy doesn't do poly.

I bet if you e-mail him, he'll do a 5er for you.

Oh and total price out the door for that instrument was less than $2K.

On Dan's website he states that he doesn't do 5's.

How long did it take?

Did USACG do the pickup routes?

Down payment was mid-August. There were some significant delays - specifically USACG was running a bit behind, then since they're turnaround time on finishes was also quite long, Dan needed to find a poly guy who could get it done quicker. Then Nordstrand was running behind in deliveries. Then hipshot was out of stock on black hardware.

So while I am happy with the build quality, I believe Dan could improve his turnaround time by managing his supplier chain more efficiently - specifically finding out well in advance what's in stock and what's *almost* out of stock and ordering accordingly to not get caught short.

Oh, besides 5ers are overrated!! <ducking>

I kinda see the cat.

...but I also see that eye from "Lord of the Rings".

No 5 strings? Check these two Atkinson basses....a Jazz Hollow 5 string & a '51 P. The 5 string has Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pups & the '51 P has an SD Vintage pup. [smilie=cool-smiley-027.gif]

Yes, digging them a lot. Will need to get off my lazy butt and figure out how to get some signal into the computer to post a couple clips.

Sadly Atkinson has closed up shop.

Too many whiny crybaby kiddy customers from Talkbass - and he was losing money with his uber-slim profit margins.
