incoming Duesenberg

I've culled the herd a little lately - offed a Gibson Ripper and Gibson RD, plus an Aussie Maton JB-4, and used some of those funds to buy a Markbass TTE-500. Another significant portion of that GAS fund has just been applied to this Duesenberg Starplayer, which I scored from Switzerland at a relative bargain price compared to prices in the US or Australia ....

I played one of these in a store locally (the blue and white GT striped "Mike Campbell" signature version) and the build quality is outstanding, with a lot of tonal variety for a hollow body, which sold me. There is a YouTube video of a guy test driving one of these that demonstrates the tone pretty well.

It has enough of a tone palette to cover my blues and classic rock gigs, and I might even sneak it onstage in some Stones tribute shows because the average audience member would probably think it looks a bit like a Framus.

New basses are red. Used basses are black.

Congrats on that beauty! Afair the Starplayers started as single cuts w/ one single pup and are now double cut w/ twin pups?
Might be a transition model?
I owned a long scaled Duesenberg D-Bass in the gorgeous sonoma red finish. Too bad I cannot work on a broad and flat neck...

You might be confused with the Warwick Star Bass, which is double cut?

After tooing and froing about shipping with the seller who weren't hip to international options this baby finally arrived. It's certainly very purty and plays nicely unplugged in my office, even with roundwounds. Build quality looks first rate. The case is very deluxe, and all the case candy is there - allen keys, polishing cloth, unique style straplocks. Some flats will go on tonight for the ultimate test.

No Sir, that brand with the "W" does not confuse me. I think I should have taken a look to the Duesenbass website before posting this. Sorry, it has been my mistake.
Btw - Mr. Gölsdorf, the man behind Duesenberg refers to the Framus Star bass with the Starplayer bass.
