New Amp Show-N-Tell

Postby Sloom » Sat Aug 18, 2012 9:27 am

Found this Eden WT405 the other day, so I went through with a potential sale of my GK 1001RB-II, which power reserve felt like a glass I'd never get to the bottom of... and bought the Eden with the proceeds. Here's a crap picture of it, sitting atop my GK MB112:

Love this amp, I think I've actually found my voice. We'll see, but I like 'er. [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

Well after playing a few gigs with it I've learned to pull the enhance and comp all the way out, and avoid the Dynamic Boost unless playing pretty quietly. It packs more punch than I've experienced with anything else, ever. Right in the chest- kaboom!... even at low/rehearsal volumes. I like that feature.

I am finding my notes are sent directly front-and-center of the mix since playing through this little booger. It's caused me to wake up a bit more, and actually encouraged me to be fully involved with every note- which I love about it! I have been dragging along a bit lately, and some of my gigs have found me wanting in the "Gonzo" department (pardon the usage, Gonzo!). It also gives my 'clams' away to anyone caring to find them... but the beauty's in the flaw, someone once said. I'll take it!

It's very responsive to the signal you send it, and all the little toggles and features make for a fully-exploitable EQ, even though the actual "EQ section" seems very limited at a glance. As far as if it's really MY sound, the jury's still kind of out. I'm getting a Tube-Jones, again, and we'll see how much good luck I have with that! But, it's a fine amp. Very hi-fi, very succinctly voiced. A sweet sound can be had if that's where you want to go. She's got some 'wool' too, with that 'warm' toggle.

I may be looking for a little more rag and snarl though... [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

I'm in between several things just now and not expressing myself with much nuance, I'm afraid! Bogged down a bit... off to punk-band practice- where I'll be slamming it down with me auld Kustom K200-B into a couple TL-606s... [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

Ok, and this phat old phunker is now in the locker:

Turn up the volume on the amp and back off on the instrument; that's the secret, I guess, to getting some 'oomph' out of this Kustom K200-B! The Emi 3015 'Lites in the TL-606s don't hurt either. Lots of rabid growl and some nice deep bass comes in this full-contact model Kustom head. This is the rig I'm using for our punk-esque trio "The Same", which meets once a week down in my basement to see if we can make ourselves sick by way of loud, disorderly noises. The kids seem to think it's fun that their 51 yr old dad is a punk rocker... still...

We're doing some Sex Pistols, Dead Boys, Husker Du, Ramones and a few Who covers, then we'll get writing when we've got some sound meshed up. So far the 5-gallon buckets distributed around the room are still clean. [smilie=food-smiley-004.gif]

Hüsker Dü! Nobody covers Hüsker Dü! That's frickin' awesome! I loved those guys. Still diggin' Bob Mould today.

Now back to your regularly scheduled conversation.

I had one of those Kustoms in the 70's, loud! I also dig Bob Mould....little trivia you guys probably already know, the Daily Show intro is his. I bet there is a decent residual check in the mailbox from time to time. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

No!! It's a perfectly fine and well-intentioned reference! [smilie=cool-smiley-027.gif] Just borrowing it for present purposes... much obliged.

But what does it mean? [smilie=coz.gif] I may be a bit slow on this and I'm not getting the reference either. [smilie=fun_84.gif]
