That's a drag. Sorry to hear it.

What is "your sound"? You know, some of us have quite a lot of experience with buying/selling different cabs. :hid:

Ouch.

...but I can relate somewhat.
Out here on the islands,
I have to do a lot of buying off the web without the chance to test or try out,
simply because the music stores here aren't nearly as well stocked as the mainland.
Which means you have to put your money down and order one, just to give it a spin.

Reviews can be soooo subjective too,
with one guy's "ultimate" being another guy's "crap".
I mean Vic uses Hartke but I'd rather eat a bug than play through one.

I'm with Gonzo, hard to try stuff out here. When we go to the mainland I always check out stuff, but I can never tell in a store if something is *giggable for me. I like the idea of a 6" driver though, I dig Jim Bergantino's cabs and he makes a 15 with a 6 inch driver that has me thinking, but it might be over the weight limit I like in a small cab.

Doug, I think your problem is that you are comparing everything to a schroeder cab and nothing compares to a schroeder cab.
Most of the schroeder cabs I have played have a serious midrange bump.

You know, IMO that's pretty light and the price ain't too bad neither.

I'm with Jerry in that's it's almost impossible, even after 25+ years of steady gigging, to be able to tell in a music store setting if a cab will cut it on a gig. I just can't translate that music store tone to a stage in my head.

I think Juan has a drum kit in there once and a while. Cant hurt to ask if you can bring your drummer to give it a real test drive.

Also, I am selling my Thunderchild, its probably not going to be a whole lot different than the LDS, but ping me if you are interested.

IEM's ended mine!! [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif] Though the Streamliner is the sh*t when it comes to amps. Light, loud and luscious.

What amp are you running with it? I ask b/c I bought an Acme Low B-2 a few years ago. I tried it on a couple of gigs and didn't like it at all. Just wasn't my sound.

Well, fast forward a few years to the other night. I've been thinking of what cab to pair with my Aguilar TH500. I've tried just about every cab that I have and some were better than others. Someone mentioned that I might like the Baer ML112 so I looked up the specs online. A little too expensive for me but . . . So, I'm looking around and I notice my old Acme sitting there collecting dust. I figure, why not give it a try. Well, let me tell you. The match with the Aguilar TH500 is a good one. I'm going to try this on my next gig.

After all that, what I'm trying to say is . . . try another amp with it.

I had tried out a Fearful 15/6/1 with my GK 800RB and it sounded pretty good but I did think the lows were too wide for me. When I tried the F215 that was next to it, there was no comparison, I like tighter bottom. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

well, traded it to a guy in SF (meeting him tomorrow) for a TecAmp S-212 ......... So, on to the next :-) let's see how this goes!! ........ if I could afford a Berg 2x12 I would jump on it........or a Genz Neo2x12 ......... I think the TecAmp will be good, and it's light, and small!! ............ Thanks everyone!!

Well this TecAmp is a much better fit.....of course that's "at home" ..... Playing a show tonight so I'll report...although I'm pretty sure tonight's club has DI for the bass so I may not "need" anything from the cab tonight??? [smilie=cool-smiley-027.gif]

So, some dude contacted me to buy the Thunderchild, I met him in Davis.
He had a big box in the back of his mini van.
I asked him what was in it?
He says LDS 15/6.
I asked him "was the guy that sold it to you named Doug? "Oh! You know Doug?!?!"

Too goddam funny.
