Peavy Microbass still the go to practice amp?

Postby nolabass » Mon Aug 26, 2013 9:38 am

No longer made. I need a small amp in Kansas City and have had high praise for my microamp. It gets more play than any other amp I have owned. Should i spend $100 on a used one or have you guys kept up with the latest and greatest? I don't want a headphone amp. Just a simple turn it on and play now amp, I like to jump on stuff I hear on TV and radio quickly. Heck my peavy stays on 24/7 some times just in case I get inspiration.

the microbass is a solid little amp. There is one for sale in the local craigs for 20 bucks.

I use my Peavey Decade for pretty much the same purpose.
It's also been my throw-in-the-car teaching amp since the mid 80s
and it just refuses to die

That Ampeg looks cool. Always an Ampeg fan but the cost and footprint (being my girlfriends apartment and aesthetic) might be a bit much for my budget. trying to make a gigging amp purchase too.

Man wish i was closer to grab that $20 amp. The obviously have not looked at eBay. Seems they go for a bit more.

Peter, if you want I can try and pick it up and ship it to you. I get a pretty low rate at work. I bet I could get the whole thing to you for about 30 bones.

I sure appreciate the offer but too much hoopla over a small amp. You time alone is worth $100. I'll keep an eye out. No real rush.

Went with a new Ampeg BA108 for $99 shipped. Small footprint and sounded good at local GC. Thanks Harleyyy [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

I've been getting together with a guitar player at his house. First time I plugged into his recording rack and played through the monitors. Did not enjoy that.
I went by GC yesterday and they had that Ampeg BA108 on sale for $59. It didn't sound so good in the store sitting up on top of two other amps, but in the house sitting on the floor it really sounds good. I left it at the guitar player's house, one less thing to carry.

I wish I hadn't seen that used Bergantino HT322 that they wanted $499 for. Sounds great, but I wonder if it's worth the 30 extra pounds over my Avatar 410?

I've been gigging my Avatar 4x10 for everything. Low level duo stuff and lately a lot of outdoor gigs. Hard to beat a light cab, 1,000 watts that i'm not scared to beat up. The berg would sound nice but in my gigs wouldn't pay off in ease of use. Hell I keep my Avatar in my car so i don't have to load it.
