Green Monster from Kebo's bass works

Postby Funkster » Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:57 am

Just wanted to send out my Props to Kebo and Ben for treating me awesome and taking very good care of me and my little effort to stimulate the economy.
I opened Kebo's bass works thread a few weeks ago and I knew it was going to be a Bad/Good thing lol. I read down his list and I don't know why but Beat to piss seafoam green 57 reissue pbass caught my eye, I love Mojoed out and heavy played basses, that means they were played for a reason.
After a few emails back and fourth and a few pic's Kev told me that the bass is special and it's tone is ridiculous, The Truth he called it! I couldn't agree more this Precision is one of the best sounding P's that I ever have laid my hands on. We recorded rehearsal on Wednesday and my guitar player and I were freaking at the tone of this thing and can't wait to get it in the real studio decked through the SVT,, Yeah baby!! Kebo and Ben really know there basses and when they tell you that it's the Truth! it is by no shadow of a doubt.. Thank you guy's I love this bass and haven't put it down in 3 days...

Yes it is Steve it's a 1986 57 reissue that has had the piss played out of it and it's Seafoam over CAR,, I don't think Foam was an optional color in 57.. This bass rocks!!!

I am pretty sure Seafoam was an option on the 57 RI's IIRC. [smilie=coz.gif]

On the reissues yes but was it an option in 57 for the real deal?

This bass was naturally relic'ed , it was played! Shes 100% other then a Fralin 8% overwind. Its factory seafoam over CAR. In 57 you could order your bass ANY COLOR you wanted as long as it was a DuCo car paint color. Seafoam was. 1959 I beleive Fender went to a std color chip chart for the custom colors. The nice thing is Henrys bass looks more worn in person!!!!!! When this bass came in it was SO dirty I had to completely disassemble it right down to disassembling the tuners and bridge to clean them. The pots needed to be soaked too. She plays PERFECT right now. That bass has about 20 hours of bench time on it, I never put more time on a bass then this one. I liked this bass so much that if I didnt lose my job, I woulda kept her...

It does play perfect, My drummer loves it and he alway's compliments a good sounding bass and I never hear a peep when it's a bad sounding bass lol.. It sounds unreal on tape. This is fact! it kills my 64 and rivals my 75 and 83 for top spot in the studio.. It just wreaks of coolness and vibe

Hey Henry-I played that Green Monster a few weeks ago at KeBo's.You ain't kidding about that bass-It rocks! In all of my years doing deals with KeBo,when he says "it's a good one".It REALLY IS a good one!For real.

I just did a trade for a '60 Slab board P w/KeBo & gotta say it's THE BEST SOUNDING bass that I have ever owned.Period.Had to tort guard it though-the repro green guard just wasn't working for me.Sorry Kevin LOL!Seriously awsome bass!

Thank you for the Post bro I'm glad some peep's got to take this baby for a ride before I got it. I'm taking her out on it's first gig this Sat and I can't wait!! I haven't put this bass down yet since last week.
I think we have conversed a few times about my 83 Seienna P, That P is the best sounding P I own hands down,, It was from the Swami @ The Basspalace, The Green Monster rivals it and will be on tape pretty soon as we are heading back into the Studio next month to lay some tracks and the Green Monster will be on the next 2 songs. I can't wait!
