neck finish question

Hey, I know this is kind of a stupid question, but I'd be curious in peoples' opinions. I've got a 1975 P-bass and the back of the neck is pretty glossy. How big of a sin would it be to sand the back of the neck to give it a matte feel?

Why not try the 0000 steel wool trick?

Check it....

The steel wool trick is a good way to go and will allow the neck to be easily buffed back to gloss if needed. Just don't take off too much finish ...
