OK, fellas. I need some input here.

I just acquired a Squire Jazz Bass from a friend of mine for cheap. It has a set of Dimarzio pickups in it that are probably worth more than the bass itself. My original plan was to make a fretless out of it, but now I am considering doing some neck swapping and perhaps making a player out of it. Here's the deal - I have four Jazz Basses that are all Frankensteins. Here is a pic and brief description of what they are.


From l to r:
1. Berry Oakley Tractor clone, all Japanese, Mexican or licensed parts, Dark Star and Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups, reverse wind vintage style tuners.
2. Another possible Tractor clone, minus the Dark Star, NICE natural finish, Allparts neck, Mexican pickups, Hipshot ovals. This bass weighs a ton.
3. The black Squire Jazz with unknown model Dimarzio's. It doesn't have the extra routing under the pickguard you usually see in Mexican basses (it's Korean made.) It's the lightest of the four basses, @ 9# even.
4. Fairly intact MIM Fender Jazz with Fender 60's Custom Shop pickups. I added the bridge cover and tug bar.

Right now I am leaning towards putting the neck from #2 on #1, putting the neck from #1 on #3 and defretting the neck from #3 and putting it on #2. A red tort guard would look nice on #3, also. I have thought about putting the neck from #1 and the pickguard from #2 on #4 to have a nice looking, vintage vibe sunburst, tort, rosewood axe.

Moving the neck from #2 to #1 is on the right track...

I agree 100% - definitely swap the necks with 1 & 2.
Put a BA2 & pickup ashtray (ala Marcus) on bass #2 and funk it up.
#3 I would refin the head stock to match the body and drop a minty white guard, tug bar and & full set of ashtrays on it for a cool vintage vibe. Id swap the CS 60's with the dimarzios, and a set of chromes or TI flats.
#4 Id drop the dimarzios in it until I figure out what I want to do with it.
