Played one at Bass Day L.A., and really liked it. All the sexiness of a slab body SCP, but with a lot of tone and sensitivity from the TV Jones pickup.

Day, even weeks go by, and the bass sticks with me. I dig it. Gas. The problem; Fender only made 30, and they're about $4500, IF you can find them.

I think I can duplicate this, though. Maybe a USCG body (T body with belly and arm cuts, rear mounted controls, and a custom pickup rout). Find someone who can shoot a Nitro finish (maybe go for Fiesta Red!), pick up a TV Jones "Thunderblade", and I've got most of the other parts laying around.

I could do this!

Man that's a sweet looking bass! But forgive me...I only speak a rudimentary border slang Tex-Mex...does "cabronita" translate to something like "little asshole"??

The guitar version is called the "cabronita boracho", so it's a little drunk asshole. [smilie=smilie_kopf.gif]

Cool bass. Wonder what the toaster pick up sounds like? Anyone find a clip on youtube or something? [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

I'm starting to gather parts to build one of these.

I can't seem to find out what the difference is between the Tunderblade pickup fender says was specially made for this bass, and the regular ThunderTron.

Anyone here know?

cheers

FIRST post in these forums btw!

Hi man :welcome: Have no idea on the pickup. Maybe it's sprinkled with Fender dust? [smilie=grinning-smiley-044.gif]

The Thunderblade, from what I've gathered, uses two "blades" instead of poles for each string, so string spacing is less of an issue.

The bridge version is curved to follow string height setup from string to string.

Anyone know where these are available?

I've been asking around but still no luck

They sell the TV jones guitar pickups at warmoth, you might ask about the bass model. They are generally very helpful there.

I just ordered a body from Warmoth, I'll email them about the pickup tomorrow.

In the meantime, here's some info I found about a TV Jones guitar pickup that uses blades instead of poles.
I'm pretty sure this would apply to a bass pickup as well.

"Simply put, it's a TV Classic that uses blades instead of pole pieces. The blades provide a larger magnetized surface area, providing greater inductance. The resulting tone retains the Classic's clarity, but with a bold and full broadband punch."

Also, as I'd mentioned above, string spacing is not an issue with the blades.

Hope I can track down one of these!
