72 Jazz - nut

Postby ampig » Fri Oct 11, 2013 6:22 am

I just accquired the above and need to replace the nut because the slots are way oversized. I'm ordering a replacement nut but I don't want to remove the existing one until I'm ready to replace it, so I need to know if the nut slot is flat our rounded on a 72 Jazz.

I also posted this in the Repairs forum. I hope I haven't broken any rules :hid:

The slot is rounded on my '75 P and I believe this was the case on all old Fender basses at least through the '70s.

I just bought and sold a 73 J and it was rounded (and disintegrating) also.

Maybe that's why so many have brass nuts now?
