No but they sure look cool. I haven't seen them in ABQ yet anyhow. Kinda reminds me of a T-40 body/Precision neck mutant beast I stuck together 5 er 6 years back.

First thing that I've been interested in from Fender in a long time.

I played one this past weekend at Bass Central. It was pretty cool but I'm not sure I'd run out and buy one.

There's already a lot of basses out there with that basic pickup format, so if it's going to succeed I would think it would have to stand out as being unique somehow. But, it's good to see Fender trying to come up with new (for them) designs.

Other than the pickguard I think it looks ok though I think it'd look much better either with no pickguard or one that just around the controls (like a Stingray).

Well, it does have the preamp with the mid selector knob which was kind of nice. I thought the neck was a little thin (front to back) for me. It was a nice bass but I just wouldn't be looking to get one for myself.

I don't know if GC has them or not. I was hanging out at Bass Central last weekend and one of the guys asked if I had ever tried one. He handed it to me to give it a whirl. [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif]

Eggzackerlee ...

My P-Dlx has a mid control, and no one will ever accuse its
neck of being too thin LOL ... plus no one ever looks at this
bass and asks silly questions about it. They've seen the same
basic package for years.

Fender can't expect to sell a buncha basses bassed on some
"Hey thaz cool lookin, whadizzit ??" styling gimmick. I saw a
Dimension at a local shop [Drome, in Albany NY, FWIW] and
it had some kinda visual curiosity happening, but not enuf
to actually make me wanna go plug it in.

New basses are red. Used basses are black.

If the pickups can be split like the Roscoe Beck model, it might be pretty cool.

played one this afternoon. (4 string-1 p/u model)
pros:
nice modern tone shaping and a surprisingly good setup out of the box,,played like butter..build and quality were top notch
cons:
a little on the heavy side
there are plenty of basses on the market that sound and play like this, fender could of and should have made this 15 yrs ago instead of making a lot of different precision and jazz bass models.

nice instrument but it's a little to late...
