I love watching Big Sam. I just know one of these days that trombone is gonna just turn inside-out, the way he blows it.

He is a seriously hard blower. I remember band camp in college, drum and bugle corps....I would split my lip and blow blood through my trumpet... I keep looking for blood spatter in Sams horn. Heh...New Orleans street players are very very hardened to playing hours on end.
Mia's management company handles Sam so the work together a good bit.
If the road trip to North Carolina goes well this will be a nice 2nd call gig for me. They do nice stages.

Pete, there's nothing better than going places to play music for people that want to hear it. Enjoy!

Thanks guys...now I have some serious wood shedding to do. This project is not like my usual blues band shuffle/swing/slow blues/stroll all night ....these guys have been together for years and worked out all their tunes. Lots of modulations, breaks, hit changes and such. I like it!

gig bump for tonight...... [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

I'm prepared and this will be my first gig with Mia. We had a 2 hour run through yesterday, other than that we just dive in. I've wood shed this a bunch so it'll be fun.
Tonight I get to play funk/soul/rock with my beloved Lakland on Lafayette's best stage. Woo Hoo!
