help identify this (Teisco) Del Rey

Hi there, I'm a newbie here, following a referral from a fellow Eden Forum member.

I have here a Del Rey hollowbody violin bass, and I don't know the model number or mfg location & date, although I'm assuming it was made in Japan. Can anyone help me?

I bought this thumper for $100 at a small shop in Florida. It was strung with a set of strings that were way too heavy, so I put on a set of short scale low tension flats. Much better. The intonation is pretty good but not perfect, but I haven't worked on it because the bridge is wooden and I have no experience with that sort of thing.

The tone on the neck pickup is HUGE. SO much bass it makes my Fender Jazz sound tinny :) But it has plenty of clarity too. Oddly enough the tone control works in reverse from the volume - turning it clockwise cuts the treble.

Any info would me most appreciated.

Peace,
-Aaron
