Hofner Club or Eastwood Classic

Hofner Club or Eastwood Classic

Can anyone offer insight on either the Hofner Icon Club or Eastwood Classic 4?

Neck divers?

Gig-ability?

I've messed with German Clubs in shops. Seems more practical
than those silly fiddle basses, and has the same tone ... which
is somewhat 1-trick-pony-esque. Eastwoods are cool, but seem
kinda overpriced. Have you seen the new Epi Zenith ? It has a
mag PU at the neck AND a piezo bridge.

I think you'll find a huge weight difference between the Icon
and the Eastwood. Maybe that's a decider, gigwise ?

New basses are red. Used basses are black.

I'm playing a light, 'A' neck P bass now and still having shoulder and wrist issues after 3-4 hours. My gig is Classic Pop. Bar & wedding 3 piece thing.

I'm thinking light weight, maybe short scale, skinny neck. Also, some kind of noise canceling pickup scheme would be smart. There's been rooms that have given me some serious noise problems when using my Ric (but not since switching to P).

Hofner Club keeps jumping to the top of the list, but I have no idea if those are singles or humbuckers though. Also wondering if that one good trick is good enough.

Haven't seen Epi Z yet.

Dave G has one, I played and it is awesome. The flats really suit it.

Perhaps he can chime in on the dive.

Mine isn't really neck divey... however I have the German Club, not sure how much difference in construction there is vs the Icon series. Thought I read somewhere the Icons have a center block, but not positive on that. Mine also has the "Cavern Bass" pickup spacing, which I think gives more useables tones IMO.

Are the pickups single coils or some sorta hum canceling arrangement?

Not sure Rene... but don't notice any hum issues when soloing either pickup.
