Scored a NEW Harmony H22 RI Cheap!

Scored a NEW Harmony H22 RI Cheap!

Postby nolabass » Sun Mar 01, 2015 10:47 am

I've been stalking eBay for over a year wanting a H22. Preferring an original but choking on the 1K asking prices. The re-issues hover around $450 normally. Lately I'm seeing some new, don't know the story but they are around. Just scored one for $340 shipped. ;) [smilie=smilie_kopf.gif] [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif] [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

Nice! I'd love to hear a report on how it feels and sounds in relation to a vintage one. I imagine its pretty close if the pickup is the same.

I'm recording a project as we speak. Wanted to get my voice up and record something more in my personal style for resume purposes. I will be tracking with the RI. Maybe we can get a descent idea. The pickup is Sposed to be an exact copy.

Mainly I find it interesting they were discontinued and all of a sudden there are a few available new and cheap. Can't figure out if Harmony is dumping some found stock or making them again.

LOL, being broke is a fine form of patience. Never did I think I could score one new for such low dough. That's a good $100 under used prices. [smilie=fun_84.gif]

Well USPS Parcel Select sure sucks as a shipping method for a wood instrument. Shipped on the 2nd from Il. and has enjoyed the freezing temps for 9 days. [smilie=angry-smiley-005.gif] Still hasn't arrived in La.

So got the bass in finally. Nice build. I am futzing with it trying to set it up. I'm putting some old Ti flats on it, requiring a neck and bridge adjustment. Which I'm finding respectably easy. The tuners suck, or 2 tuners suck. I should replace them with better tuners in the future if it pans out to be a keeper.
I like the tone, feel and responsiveness to my attack. As I play it more I'm finding the tones like. Hollowbodies in general seem to be more responsive to touch and attack. there's a sweet spot here for sure. Sets in the mix nicely playing in my living room. Nice low end, really nice. Soft top end and warm overall.
I'll record it soon and post some results.
