Hey, they make a nice set:

Bass, Steel string, Nylon string, mandolin
All have RMC pickups. The bass is running TI Acousticores.

Got Godin? Let's see some pics!

That thing is sweet Rich, especially that custom tort job you did. What strings are you running on that?

I know it's not a great pic, but it does show the extra knobs and neck PU :-)

No doubt that Acousticores would sound nice on my A4FL, but then I'd lose the neck PU :-(

They sounded cool on the Ren bass they came on but they finally landed on an Ibanez EDA. I don't mind losing the mag PU on the EDA cuz I didn't go to any special effort to have it there. I've also got Acousticores on a LightWave bass. So that's two solid bodies and one semi-hollow, and all sounded cool with the Acousticores. But when I put them on a fully hollow archtop bass, no center block, no shelled-out hardwood sides-and-back, then their voice was different, waaaaay too much brass bell ringing. They were installed, played for one hour, and removed all in one evening.

Golem, is the neck pickup a mod? I have not seen an A4 with one.

Also, does that have the bagg pickup or the RMC?

Baggs for the piezo. Your A4 looks different around the controls area. Wuzzupwiddat ?

The J is a mod. It's a passive Bart, completely sepertate system, seperate jack and all. The Bart's jack is stereo and carries the piezo at the ring if your amp supports that [or a mini-mixer]. Even running stereo, all the controls are seperate and you hafta put a dummy plug in the piezo jack anyway, to turn on the 9v Baggs system for the piezo. The stereo plug really accomplishes only one thing: You can run one TRS cable instead of two mono cables, just reduces cable clutter.

Of course, the Bart mod is also a complete backup. Either system will be unaffected by the failure of the other, not that I'm any sorta big time player who hasta have onboard "performance protection".

Those extra controls are for the synth program changes and synth volume. I do not use the bass synth, but I really like RMC pickups and I believe only the Godin synth access guitar and basses come with them. Or at least I have never seen a Godin with RMCs that did not have synth access.

Thanks. The strings are TI flats. One of these days I'll get around to trying out some acousticores, but I like the way the TI flats sound on this bass.
