Who's playing now?

Just wondering...
Just how many of you play a hollowbody as the main bass?
Myself, its been the primary bass for a long, long time.
I Now have 2: a modified Guild Starfire II and a modified Epiphione Jack Casady.
The secret is in the sauce.

No main bass for me, as different gigs demand different flavors.

But I can see my Lakie HB getting some serious stage and recording time, especially when covering 60's classics. [smilie=cool-smiley-027.gif]

i don't really have a main bass. Ms Diva's current fave is my Takamine B10 [see avatar] and other faves have included the Turner Ren which is still in rotation. My Godin A4 sees regular use, as does my B-3 [a one-off by Fretless Bill] and Fender AE-P. These are all thinline except for the Tak, which is cello-esque altho you can't see that in the avatar.

All of them are FL. I'm not too fond of hollow fretted basses with piezos. The combination of hollowbody and piezo just puts out too much klank. Some mag PU fretted hobos are OK in my hands, but frets with piezo-only is NOT for me, and I do prefer piezos. Sometimes I'll play a fretted Epi JC or other mag PU archtop. Here's a coupla pix, the B-3 and the AE-P:

The B-3 is mag-only [Audere heaven] but the AE-P has both mag and piezo.
And yes that is a purple heart FB on the B-3 :-)

New basses are red. Used basses are black.

I have 8 basses, so I rotate them. But the Univox hollowbody in my avatar is one of my favorites. I played it on the gig where I recorded my band: http://youtube.com/colocoug . I think on my next gig I'll play my Rogue VB-100 Beatle Bass.
- '63 Fender P
- Midnight blue MIM J
- OLP M22, Metallic Blue
- P/J fretless
- Epiphone EB-0
- Univox 335-copy hollowbody
- Rogue VB-100 Violin Bass
- Turser JTB-401 '53 P replica
- Applause AE-40 ABG

Been playing a hollowbody [Gretsch] for over a year now with my acoustic band. It's hell going back to a solid body after getting used to the 7 1/2 lb Gretsch. [smilie=cheeky-smiley-025.gif]
