got stingray gas..

Actually I've had it for a while. I really want an SR5, used so that I can always get my investment back. There is one in CAR locally for around 1K, seriously considering it. It's on the light side too, only weighs about one cinder block instead of the 2 to 3 norm.. I passed by what I call the drool store today, http://www.theperfectbass.com. They are 4 miles from my house. I went down the line lifting all tweny or so SR5's they had, mighty pretty, but all heavy. I mentioned to the young salesguy there that I was hoping to buy used so that I wouldn't take a hit if I ever sold it, and he said check these out. They had several of the new Sterling by EBMM basses. They are exactly the same as stingrays, not sterlings, made in Indonesia. They look great! All models are pretty plain, but they all were flawless.
$749 retail for a 5er!! hmm...

Ed Friedland got the Sterling version to review and loved it so much that he's keeping it and has been taking it on gigs lately. I have yet to see any locally but I've heard nothing but raves online so far.

They showed me the brochure, that honeyburst/rosewood with matching headstock looked killer. They aren't all painted to mask inferior wood either. They had a natural ash with maple neck that looked awesome. Even the setup was perfect on all of the four they had. hmm again...

But you won't get your investment back if you ever decide to sell it.

Is that a wet or dry cinder block? ROTFL!

Early word is that these are pretty good. Quality-wise the equivalent of G&L Tributes or Lakland Skylines. I'd be interested to know who the OEM is, but so far BP ain't talking unless I missed it.
