Most were, they used the same neck as a standard feature. Of course optional was the 1-1/2" neck.

Could also be nothing more than a mislabeled decal. The seller added:

I HAVEN'T QUITE DECIDED WHAT TO DO ON THIS YET. I MADE AN ERROR IN THE LISTING. THIS IS ACTUALLY A 1979 SABRE BODY WITH A 1976 FRETLESS NECK. I AM TRYING TO DETERMINE FROM THE INDIVIDUAL WE BOUGHT THIS FROM IF IT WAS SHIPPED FROM THE FACTORY LIKE THIS TO HIM. MY UNDERSTANDING WAS IS THAT HE IS A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN AND THIS WAS WHAT HE WANTED AND SPECIFIED. IF THERE WERE NOT ANY FRETLESS SABRE NECKS IT IS CONCEIVABLE THAT WHEN BUILDING HIS GUITAR THEY SIMPLY GRABBED A LEFTOVER FRETLESS NECK FROM THE 76 PRODUCTION RUN. ONCE I HAVE MORE INFO I MAY END THE AUCTION AND RESTART IT IF THE BIDDING IS STILL LOW. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING, IF YOU HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL INFO PLEASE SHARE IT.
