Yup, the '81 is the same pale shade as new ones. I don't think it spent any time in sunlight or smokey bars. That '81 neck is the absolute best StingRay neck I've ever played (old or new).

Borrowed from an old neighbor 8 years ago or so, I don't remember the year, or much about the mod that was done, his house burned down and this and a ampeg babybass were lost
