Tweak intonation or not?

Tweak intonation or not?

Postby spideyjg » Tue Sep 30, 2008 10:05 pm

Just checked with the Strobo stomp to make sure I wasn't crazy. If I aim for the dot on my fretless El Toro the note is slightly sharp. Seems consistent up the neck so I suspect an intonation adjustment would fix it..

I remember Golem saying that you are the intonation and to not sweat it like on fretted.

Should I tweak it just so my dots are in sync or just correct my dumb ass from going to far forward? [smilie=fun_84.gif]

Seems to me the better the bass is setup the easier it will be to play. If it is a setup problem I would tweak away. Only one way to find out.....right? [smilie=grinning-smiley-044.gif]

Yep, just mess with the saddles, and get it 'closer'.

I set mine to be intonated correctly where my fingers fall instinctively when relying on the top neck dots.

I figured I needed all the help I could get...

I set mine pretty much like Gonzo.

I have tried other ways, like on Gary Willis' site, but I have the best results starting spot on at the octave,
for where I plant my finger. Tune the octave harmonic for pitch, and then slide the fingered note up or down to determine where it is now, and then adjust to suit you, not somebody else. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]
