Great deal! Congrats...

Never played one, but based on the contour the sound must project really well.

I played this at a bluegrass jam yesterday and I got a lot of love. these are the same guys that poo poo'd the EUB.

The only issue is the intonation is angled - the notes are not in the same spot on each stiring - so it is kinda like playing a fretless Dingwall

But still, it kills any regular acoustic bass guitar on volume and more than kept up with some guitars, mandos, and banjo.

The action is super high and there is no way to adjust it. That is why the inonation is whacky. It is like an upright with the weedwhacker strings. I noticed a thread on the other bass forum where a guy had put in a fingerboard overlay to build up the FB to effectivly lower the action. I might do that if I play this thing a lot. One of the guys I jammed with yesterday is a mandolin builder and said he could do it for me.

Right up my alley then.

I've been looking at those on evilBay along with the Bajo Sexto. What is the difference?

Paul

Bajo Sexto is a 12 string Guitar type instrument.

The Guitarron is guitar scale, but tuned down to bass octave. Normally played in chords and tuned up a little different than a bass.
I tuned up mine E-F in 4ths and it seems to be stable.
