MIJ Fretless J

MIJ Fretless J

Going to look at this one tomorrow morning. No case and supposed to be in decent shape, wants $300. Haven't tried an unlined fretless before, maybe I'll wait for the Squire vintage modified fretless if this one doesn't work out.

I have that bass in white and it's a sweet player, I loaded it with Fralins and the Mwaaaa factor is killer, 300 is a good deal also! My Into sucks but it sure is a hell of a lot of fun to play.

Got it home and the bridge pickup is dead.... Should've checked a bit closer but didn't, my bad. Sounds really good on the neck pickup though. Will check around for a replacement. I like that white, though I have a black guard waiting for this one.

I recommend that you put a set of Fender Vintage pu's in that puppy. That along with a set of CTS pots and a Sprague ournge drop cap will really make is sound terrific.

Thanks Chuck. The bridge pickup is dead, the PO sent me a check to cover it which was nice of him. Bought a set of Duncan SJB-1 vintage pickups (dealer cost) and there are already CTS pots installed from the PO. I'll either put a Sprague OD or a Mallor 150 in there to see how it sounds. After I cleanup after this flooding of course...lol. Workshop in the basement was under water for a while.

I do have a black pickguard to replace this MOTS one shown in picture. Soon as the workshop dries out and I get the pickups installed I'll post some pics. I think this will be a cool one all setup with TI flats.

Hey Gil! Got the pickups today, installed tonight and a quick setup. Sounds really good with the Duncans and TI flats. The body is scarred from the PO, but everything fits ok, except the black guard it will need some minor modding to fit perfectly. But this thing sounds great through the headphones and SABDDI. Interesting to play but didn't seem too bad on the simple stuff. More to come, this is fun!!
