Man when I was working at the House of Guitars in Rochester NY in the mid- late 70's some of the basses that Fender shipped were appalling. So many I came across had S curves in the neck, gaps in the neck pockets, just such slipshod work it was disheartening. I am not saying all Fender products were like that but it was bad enough to turn me away from Fenders for about 25 years.
