Looks like my USA BG from the neck down. Laklands USA CAR is gorejamus! If that was Lorinos its sposed to be a bad ass example of a Lakland BG. [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

Traded a guy on TB for it. It's a Skyline, the US Lakies are too spendy for me.

I like the Glaubs, and the one I got from "digthemlows" a while back was amazing. But the big pancake neck gave me a nasty pain in the wrist. Sadly, I had to flip it. The Duck has a jazz neck, maybe I'll get to keep this one.

This gal was red hot...

I have been wanting one of these for a while....and I am happy to report I snagged one yesterday.

Stopped in SamAsh for the hell of it yesterday, and they had Laklands. The Duck Dunn was on a closeout sale for 850, plus they had a 20% off sale so that dropped the price all the way to 680.00!!!! for a brand new Dunn [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif]

I did not hesitate...got the guy to throw in a set of DR strings and a cheap bag too. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

BTW...how do you tell if it has Fralins or whatever other pickups they used?

Man I really like this bass....superb tone!

I was wondering though.....How do you tell if the pickups are Fralins?
And.....Are they not making CAR Dunns anymore?

The Fralin should have cloth wires, yes?

The website still shows the Skyline Duck as CAR only. The Sam Ash deal you got has me wondering if the Skyline Duck is being discontinued altogether?

Mine came today, it's an '06 in nice shape, 9 lbs, 5 oz. Changed the setup totally from where the PO had it. A set of 100 Chromes are sounding pretty good on it so far. Might notch them up to 105's tho, and get some more girth.

Hey Grizzly, is the back of your neck satin or gloss?

I know they are switching the pups to Lakland Hybrids. Maybe a pup discontinuation?

Aren't all Laklands satin unless ordered with a gloss?

Okay so I'm setting up the Duck and notice a grounding buzz. Added a bunch of copper foil to the guard, buzz fixed.

While I was in there, I noticed the pickup leads were soldered onto the vol pot in reverse order, white to ground and black to the lug. Odd, I thought. Dunno if that makes a difference, switched them around anyway.

I suppose the wires could've gotten crossed up during the build, but that seems unlikely. So now I'm wondering if someone was in there previously, and if my bass still has an actual Fralin or "something else".

Does anyone know how to identify a Fralin? [smilie=coz.gif]

TIA

Mine has a satin finish on the back of the neck.

I peeked under the guard by the pots, but didn't see any cloth wire, just black and red. I was too impatient to take the rest of the screws off
to really see under there though. I just gave it a good polishing cause it was fingered all over(it was hanging at Sam Ash for months the guy said), and plugged it in, I was dying to play it.

Maybe we could email Lakland with the serial # and they can tell us what's under the hood.

Fralins or not..it sounds f'ing sweet.

http://www.lakland.com/dunn.htm Check out this link.....it says CAR not available near the bottom...it's on both sides actually [smilie=coz.gif] or is that something about if its lefthanded?

This from the Fralin site. Clothage.

Email Lakland, they'll tell you what pickup you're supposed to have in there.

Lakland uses their own pups now. Those are probably Lakland pups with the plastic wiring????
