NAMM 2009?

Postby andrew » Sun Jan 18, 2009 10:40 am

Anyone go by the Lakland booth at NAMM? I heard they had something new to unveil. Truth or rumor?

Hey Andrew, I cruised by their booth (new location this year) and at a quick glance, other than what looked like a Skyline Decade, I didn't see anything other than the usual suspects. They were pretty busy so I moved on and never made it back for another stop. :(

Hopefully someone else got a better look than I did.

To "B" or not to "B"... that is the question. ;)

Jimmi played the Skyline Decade, while I was discussing some possible BABP ideas with Dan Lakin. [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

Nothing more than the door creaking open. I shared the idea, nothing was committed, but nothing is impossible. I would dig on some input/interest on what might be a BABP LE down the road though. Dan said he'd come by to check us out.

This is quite an intriguing development. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

So, ya want ideas? A Decade 4 and/or 5 string in BABP colors is one. Or we could come up with another body shape, assuming that tooling up for such a thing isn't too big a deal. Perhaps a ressurection of the JE Fenderbird concept. I'm just riffin' on thoughts here...

..but I do understand that at this time it's only at the "thinking about it" stage, and we'll leave it at that.

Well, it's my understanding that the Decade was something made up from that other now defunct forum that we shall not speak of but most of us have been banned from.

Just a quick stab out of the box...

Darryl Jones ash body
Bart pups and pre ala 4-94 (MM pickup in the bridge position and a single J-style at the neck)
maple neck black blocks w/ black matching headstock
black hardware
Hipshot d-tuner option
choice of body finish

I know I'd want one [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

I'm finding my favorite tones from basses made of Alder or Mahogany. I have a Lakland 4-94 and I'm really not happy with the MM and single J that is there. Not sure what it is but it just doesn't speak to me.

What is the body wood on your 4-94? Again, I don't know what is possible (alder is obviously an option), but would rather read some suggestions, since my goal is to bring something here from Lakland. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

Mmm....a Lakie LE ? [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

In the time honored tradition of "Vote early-Vote often".....

Waaaayy too soon for sure but.....puttin my line in the water for a Juan Aldrete type Skyline. Ya know, like his Fender with dual Darkstar thrusters and stackola knobs?

Toss in a sweet paint job......irresistable. (for me, anyway)

I believe it's Ash since it's a Deluxe with a quilt maple top, cherry burst. It's absolutely beautiful.
