Thanks guys.
I've had a jones for a Lakie for a long time; a yen for a Decade for some time, and I have seen this Fiesta Red DS'd version hanging on the wall at Mesa Hwd for-years.
Can't believe no one grabbed it up!.

Now I MIGHT have ORDERED from Lakland an active translucent finish, maple board Decade, but ya know-
I'm am digging this one lots. Not to mention that the wait from Lakland could have been... a while.

I actually spoke with Factory, asking if they knew of an Active Decade in a store for sale, never called me back
(may have tried), but when I mentioned the DS NOS, the Factory guy actually said:
"Wow! Really? A Dark-Star? That's a classic; I'd grab that!"
He really did, that certainly helped seal the deal!

Mesa guy told me he rec'd several (low) offers, would not sell- He "didn't mind having that bass in the shop!"

That's too funny!

However, Lakland's are made to be played, not hang on a wall-
and Played it shall be!

Hopefully ASAP Monday when delivered, come ON, UPS!

Will report my joy, no doubt! [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

Stick around here, and they will get shorter.

I'm not a huge fan of red basses, but that Decade is a 10!
Let us know how she sounds.

Actually, red in general wouldn't have been my choice if offered a selection; I'm a fan of translucent finishes that show the
woodgrain, or naturals.

HOW-EVER !!! [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

The DS sealed the deal here! Plus +++
With the whole retro-vibe of a Decade in general, Fiesta Red does it's part.

There was another Decade available elsewhere; same price point, in Inca Silver that was really nice too- With Chi-Sonics, and I had to wrestle that decision around. Finally figured to grab up the DS version before it was never to be had again!

And I had contemplated buying one I saw before, a LPB with blocks & binding, but couldn't remember or find the dealer-
somewhere in Illinois I think- I'm in Cali.

I have some awesome rigs that will be a great "proving ground" for this killer instrument...

FINALLY! A Lakland! [smilie=smilie_kopf.gif]

NICE!
RED RulesI'm feeling it now! [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]
No p/g would have also been a spec had I ordered one...

I've been diggin DarkStars since they were intro'd and as mentioned I think that's kinda what made the decision.

Not that Chi-Sonics were undesired, just the opposite... Why not 1 of each? [smilie=coz.gif]

BTW- is anything going on at Lakland?
Someone posted something elsewhere that they were having some kind of issues-
Any substance to that? Just curious....

We don't have any insiders round here. I think long time BABPs have all reached our quota of Laklands some years ago. I have 4 myself. We occasionally coo about our Laklands but rarely talk about the company anymore.

Yeh, well I haven't reached my quota of Laklands just yet-
Currently in stock: 0
Awaiting Arrival: 1
Desired Amount: 2 additional inc. 44-94 Special & Duck Dunne.
Colors, features TBD.

"Someone" said 'Lakland is busy having contract cancelled' and never referred to what he was babbling about.

Just Curious, relax! yell_smilie
