Welcome to the BABP Lakland Forum!

Come on in and discuss the best of the best in the world of the working man's "booteek" bass. Dan Lakin and his gang make a primo axe for "players" in every price range and style. In 10 short years Lakland basses have become the proverbial yardstick by which many of today's players measure tone, feel and playability.

Hey everyone. My name is Ken, and I'm very new here.

I recently took an interest in Lakland basses, and I have quite a few questions about them.

Hopefully, you guys will be able to help me. [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif] I look forward to my stay here.

Finally!! I found a Lakland owners forum...that was free I hope. [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif]

I currently have 3 Lakland basses, a USA Jazz, a USA P-bass, and a hollowbody from across the pond.

Hope to have a good time here. [smilie=food-smiley-004.gif]

It's like New Jersey. You can get in for free but you have to pay to leave. [smilie=fun_84.gif]

:welcome: Phil!

I have two Lakies:
∙ 55-94 Deluxe (fretted), Rosewood, Translucent Burgundy over quilted maple, original Bartolini electronics
∙ 55-94 Deluxe (fretless), Ebony, Tobacco Sunburst over quilted maple, original Bartolini electronics

I bought both of them off of members here on his board. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

The forum is free but hang around these parts you will end up buying something. [smilie=fun_84.gif]

There was a get together at Harry's where 3 current/former owners of the same Lakland were present.

Appreciate the kinds words and welcome.

Nola - my Glaub is also a very early one (mid-teens serial #). The Glaub and Osborne are my main gig basses, but I do break out the hollowbody on occasion to give it some exercise. :)

I'm certainly not against adding a Decade with darkstar(s) or chisonix to my stable if the right one (at the right price) comes along. [smilie=food-smiley-004.gif]

Being a former resident of Orange Co. Ca. (where basses and the shops that sell them are plentiful) it's hard to find a good one out here in Central Iowa. Lucky for me the gent who was selling his 55-02, met me an hour away from home to see this beauty of a 5'r. Looked kinda funny checking out a bass in front of a Subway off I-80. Her she is, my cure for 5 string gas.....one "plecked" 2010 w/LH3 electronics. [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

That's a looker alright Steve! [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

I met Don Kane in a parking lot in front of Legends Burgers off the 210 freeway to get my Lakland 55-94 Deluxe fretless from him. He was traveling from NorCal to Palm Springs in a Cooper Mini with his kids and luggage! I've also met Tris Carpenter in that lot for a hand-off. [smilie=grinning-smiley-044.gif]
