I have heard good things but have yet to try it. MXR is really stepping up with some great effects lately. I have a Carbon Copy Analog Delay from this series and I LOVE it

Yeah, if it sounds as cool as it looks, I'd like to try it.... looking for something better than my old brown Boss Octaver pedal... [smilie=coz.gif]

+1 on all counts.

I picked one of these up recently - love it! It tracks really well, down to at least the open A string which really surprised me. I recorded with it recently - I can try and post some sound clips when I get the chance. I used it both clean and distorted - the craziest sound was with my Ric 8-string bass with distortion! Actually, I have a sound clip of that:

black walrus

Kind of has a ring-mod sound to it...

Wow, that's friggin' NASTY... very ominous, I like it! Thanks for sharing that... you've convinced me, I'm getting one of these pedals. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

Btw, I never thought of trying to use an octave pedal w/my 8-string... I think the Boss OC-2 would freak out with it... have to try it. [smilie=coz.gif]

Thanks! It really never occurred to me to use an octave with an 8-string either - in fact, I thought the idea was ridiculous! Not sure why I tried it this time around, but I like the results!

There's some crazy sub-bass going on in the track that I am thinking of EQing out, and want to correct some flubs, and maybe overdub some stuff...

Wow, that one made my dog poop right here on the floor! That's one of the sounds that I've been trying to capture--once my left wrist heals, I'm going to dust off one of my 8 strings.

Ed Friedland gave the MXR a nice review in this month's Guitar World.

I might have to pick one up too. That recording sounds great!

I had a EBS octave that I picked up on CL last week and I was less than happy with it and the guy was nice enough to give my money back.

Ok, got the pedal Monday & did the first gig with it last night... This thing is the SHIZZLE! VERY pleased with it... extremely phat low end presence, and superior tracking over the Boss OC-2, EBS, & Digitech pedals I've owned... Highly recommended folks! I realized I have another track with the MXR - I had forgotten that I used it here and even listening to it a bunch of times didn't realize - it's a Rickenbacker '04 4003, and the track is called driving the bus!

I kick it off near the end when I start hammering away on the low E string - I was actually really impressed with the bass - I thought it sounded great even though I was really hitting it - I love Rics!!! [smilie=food-smiley-004.gif]

I haven't played with that pedal yet either but it does look very tasty.

I own the boss OC-2 but I rarely use it for that normal octave sound. I have the direct sound turned all the way down then play an octave up and use only the lower octave sound.... if that makes sense... Like the guy from Rudder. They talked about it in a bass player issue a few months back.

For the typical octaver sound I use electro-harmonix octave multiplexer.

http://www.ehx.com/products/octave-multiplexer

It gets the job done and sounds great.

I don't think I can justify getting another octave pedal to my wife, so it might be awhile before I get to check one of those out :(
