Classic Rock Trio - Effects Suggestions

Classic Rock Trio - Effects Suggestions

Postby ampig » Wed Jan 04, 2012 12:36 pm

Me and some former mates are forming a classic rock trio. This is my first electric three piece endaevor. I'm expecting that some type of effect will be useful and maybe necessary. I want to keep things simple. Thinking of maybe one of those multi effect POD thingies. Any suggestions?

The Bass POD XT Live floorboard has tons of stuff
and if you download the Line 6 Monkey software from their site,
all the pedals come up on the comp screen
so you can (virtually) tweak knobs in real time instead of "program".

Way cool...

Envelope effects can be cool, more subtle stuff like chorus can work in a trio where it might get lost in a bigger band.

Not that I am great with effects or anything, but near as I can tell, the trick is using the effects in a musical way.

Trios are fun for effects, I pull stuff on and of my board all the time, but I usually have at least a Chorus, Octave, Filter and Overdrive of some kind on my board.

What Jerry said, but I'd add either a flanger or phaser.

I have the Source Audio Soundblox Multiwave Bass Distortion and Bass Envelope Filter and really like both. Very flexible, tweakable, versatile filters for short money.
