My musical happy place... Changes ....

Postby 57RIP » Fri May 20, 2016 9:44 am

I go back 50's and 60's jazz about annually... Miles, Brubeck, Chas Lloyd, Dexter, Wes, Mccoy, Chick... All those guys and some others I'm too lazy to type... I come out the other side rejuvenated and sure that things are good in the world. Then my musical happy place heads off into somewhere ?

Currently it's The Wood Brothers. Once we get past the twangy voices. Which I'll admit has grown on me... The playing is so freakin' good and some of the compositions are trancendent... Neon Tombstone from The Muse just kills me...

In a few weeks it will be something else I'm sure... And next spring I'll be revisiting the pre-Bitches Brew Miles again...

Start with The Muse.

This is Chis Wood from Martin Medeski and Wood. Doing very, very different material...

Oliver would set in with us a bit back in the late 80s/90s. Strangly never met Chris in person.
Check out "King Johnson" too. One of my favorite "Wood" bands. Great records if you can find 'em.
