I just want to sing the praises of one of my favorite Bass Players, Tommy Shannon!

I would be horribly embarrassed if we had not already sung Tommys praises, as we at BABP particularly appreciate an understate groove player. [smilie=grinning-smiley-003.gif]

Did you notice that Tommy appears to be playing the same white Jazz Bass in both videos? Notice how nice the finish is on it in the Johnny Winter video? Looks fairly beat in the Double Trouble video. [smilie=cool-smiley-031.gif]

I just received a new CD/DVD set from the Arc Angels (if you're not familiar, Tommy, Chris Layton, Charlie Sexton, and Doyle Bramhall). Really shows that Tommy and Chris were def not one-trick blues players....really made a significant impact on this more commercial, song-oriented project. Good stuff!

Thanks for the reminder MIke, I have been meaning to check into them.

I believe Tommy is doing some private lessons in Austin.

I've heard Tommy dropped out after that cd, I know Chris Layton tours with Kenny Wayne Sheppard these days along with Tony Franklin on bass.
