In memory of Berry Oakley!

Raymond Berry Oakley was the Bass player and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band. He died as a result of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident about a mile away from where Duanne Allman had was killed thirteen months earlier in a motorcycle accident.

Berry and Duane

Duane and Berry are both laid to rest in the cemetery that was memorialized by co member Dickey Betts in the song "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed".

~In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed~

The song is named after a headstone Betts saw at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, Georgia, a place frequented by band members in their early days for relaxing and writing songs.
