I knew "The Letter" by the Box Tops had a tasty bass line, but now in these latter days of iTunes on my PC and audio technica noise-cancelling cans used to preserve my sanity in cubicle land, I can RILLY hear the bass. Jamerson sounds that much more genius.

But lo and behold, lissen to that cat thumpin on THE LETTER by the Box Tops. Jumpin Jiminy son of Jamerson! Who was that?

On to Wikipedia, wonder of wonders - why by gar, it was actually a teenage BOX TOP playing his own axe along with our dear departed Alex. Then off he went to a legit career on the actual, real Bass.
