Any of you guys who know me from the Pit know I am an Oakley FREAK. I built a Tractor replica in his honor. The neck plate is even special on mine. Look familiar, Mike?

Jerry, see the dude standing below the stage just behind B.O.? That's original ABB roadie Kim Payne. He's a friend of mine. He was riding motorcycles with B.O. the day he crashed and died.

Here are three EXCELLENT photos of B.O. recently gleaned from the ABB website. I'm not sure who gets credit for the first one, but I believe the second and third ones are from Sidney Smith. Enjoy!

How much did BO influence me as a young player?

Witness the '69 burst I stripped and carved a hole in for what I thought was a humbucking BO tone duplicator. It sounded like shit, but, hey, I was young and stoned.

We still close our shows with Elizabeth Reed and recently added Hot Lanta to our setlist. I think about Berry every single time I play a gig.

More newly uncovered photos of Berry Oakley from July 28, 1972, Nashville, TN. Berry is playing with a smashed right index finger. Check out the bloody bandage on his finger tip. Butch is on tympani. Maybe they're doing Hot'lanta or Mountain Jam. Pics hosted by John DuBois.

I am a HUGE ABB/ Berry Oakley fan. He is one of my top all-time bass playing heroes.

Fillmore album, any track......amazing melodic player.Sadly, that bass spot in ABB is looking like the keyboard spot for the Grateful Dead.Oakley,Williams,Waibel, and Woody all gone.

Technically, I don't think Waibel was ever in ABB. He played for The Gregg Allman Band/Gregg Allman & Friends.

On a positive note, David "Rook" Goldflies is still alive and well! [smilie=music-smiley-005.gif]

He's a great player too, I always dug his playing! I think he's doing software design or something like that now.
