Long time fan! I met him at a clinic, great guy with some great stories. It''s a crime he didn't get any songwriting credit for Billie Jean, that bassline is the song! [ I know, just like a lot of Jamerson's lines with Motown]

I just picked up Michael Jackson "Off the Wall". It might as well be Louis Johnson and His Stingray's "Off the Wall". Kicking some serious ass TT.

I love that album! Also a sad reminder what could have been if Michael didn't go crazy.

We should spin this off and talk about Bobby Watson's awesome sole contribution to that album: Rock With You. What a classic.

Or a conversation about how much better funk/soul music sounded in the 60-70's with real bass and drums compared to the MIDI-flat sounding grooves of the 80's.

You know when it sounded the best? When I would get the keys and sneak out to the family car and listen to WNOE AM out of New Orleans playing all that great 60's R&B. Pretty soon I figured out just how long I could listen without running the battery totally down so it wouldn't start, and I wouldn't catch hell. That and under the covers listening to Brother John R on WLAC out of Nashville on my single earphone transistor AM radio way into the night...
