DR Black Beauties

Postby ghiadub » Sat Apr 02, 2011 9:26 pm

I have used those before. They came on a bass I picked up and IMO, They did not work for that bass. But it came with an extra set, so I gave them to a buddy and he fell in love with them.
I love a happy ending.

I tried them a long time ago, I thought they died pretty quickly compared to Roto's

I never used DR's that much because I don't like bare metal on my posts. Last ones I tried were the Jonas Hellborg's, nice tone and smooth feel but they didn't last.

I bought an old EBMM S.U.B. that came with some worn Black Beauties. I never
took them off. Was one of the few times I enjoyed a set of RW. Acoarst, since I
don't usually care for RWs, I spoze that means a worn set of BBs is not likely to
please your typical new-strings-every-tuesday RW type.

I put a set of Red Devils on a Blue Sterling. There's a song in that somewhere, I
just KNOW it ! Anywho, said blue Sterling had a Moses Graphite FL neck and it
seemed like I'd wind up with a far out looking red-blue-black ax with a voice to
match its appearance. Proved very true dat. When I sold that ax I kept the FL
neck and put the original maple FB fretted neck back onto it, leaving the Red
Devils in place. Now this is not a Ray, it's a Sterling, a maple FB Sterling, so it's
pretty extra hawt and if any hawtitude was lost to the colored string coating I
surezhell never noticed ! Acoarst I only messed with it briefly with the OEM
neck back in place.

New basses are red. Used basses are black.
