Mastering Software Program?

Postby hmagman » Thu May 01, 2014 3:04 pm

Is there a recommended mastering/EQ software I can use to enhance an old stereo mix (now in digital format)?

Background: In my studio I found an old stereo copy of a 1977 project. I gave it a listen and thought "a little tweak" would help the sound. I have since copied the analog tape version to CD (.wav) and the tunes are decent. I'm thinking a bit of help from a software program may be the way to go to overall help the sound.

Anyone have any experience in this enhancement concept?

(The realization of listening now as to then... I realized how "busy" a young bass player's part can be, [smilie=smilie_kopf.gif] without adult supervision. LOL!!! )

Izotope RX2 is really great! There are great mastering tools and some amazing stuff for audio restoration. It's not cheap, but it can save a lot of time and really help clean up a mix or a piece of audio that one might think is not salvageable.
