well, I'm still waiting for my babies to arrive, but they're going to be...

a fretted 8 string Bee Worker model
a fretted 8 string Conklin Sidewinder
a fretless 8 string by a builder who wants his anonymity
and a fretted 10 string Adler in a whole new style

all these are single course instruments 'cause that octave string thing is too much for my simple mind!

Likewise for those aircraft carrier size fretboards to me!
I get lost.

This octave 8 is just like a 4 string fretboard.
At least I am familiar with the frets, but I usually play it with a pick.

I've been toying with the idea of installing unisons for the D and G strings though.
I am just not use to making those guitar range infringing highs.

I just can't move around on the octaved strings. I think if I had a more aggressive technique and/or played with a pick it might be different, but I'm a big wuss!

I love that sound, though! Tom Petersson had some great lines with his 8!
