Just sayin's all.

Me too. If I ever have to cut down to two basses, it'll be an L-2000 and a Mike Lull P4.

I've been a goooooood little bass player this year and have been saving my pennies. (It helps that I'm set on gig rigs!! Welllll...Except for a good preamp for my upright. And I like the look of the little Ampeg 2x10's. And maybe a good parametric?)

I've always had two basses, a #1 and a #2. The #2 slot is usually held by a rotation of mid level cool-to-me basses. (Currently a Retronix.) But...And maybe it's my age talking (DEFINITELY not my maturity!), but I could use a great, versatile bass. P, J, thick, thin, aggressive, thumpy....Pretty much any L2000 I've owned can do all this. Maybe it's time for the #2 slot to be a L2k?

BTW, my #1 isn't going anywhere. Really like it and it has sentimental value as well.

New basses are red. Used basses are black.

So I'm scheming and pricing G&L L2k's with #12 necks and I'm amazed at the ignorance of the preamp. Both Bass Central and Bass San Diego say something like "active electronics with treble and bass boost/cut". NO! Active electronics with passive treble and bass cut only!

Oi.

That's always been a problem just because most other basses have boost and cut. Now that G&L offers the M series with boost and cut it's even more confusing for people!

I've still never held a G&L
or a Lakland for that matter.
Two I've always wanted to try.

Wouldn't feel too bad, Gonz. Living in C-bus is only a little better than living in Paradise, bass gear-wise. Almost all my "finds" have been over the internet via shipping. So, I guess Paradise has it's down side: Shipping costs! That and the big bugs. **SHUDDER!!**

Seriously, Sam Ass and Guitard Center caters to the guitar/keyboard/PA crowd waaaaayyyyyy more than us bass players. And the small shops around here that might have had cool basses are out of business because of Sam Ass, Guitard Center and e-commerce.

Lakies and G&L's are my personal favs. Lakies just "fit" me right. From an ergonomic standpoint they are better than any other bass I've played. And the US models are just killer. 'Spensive, but killer. I have not played a US Lakie 44-XX series with the LH3 system, though. Just played and owned Bart equipped ones.

G&L's are Fenders the original Fenders-on-steroids. Forget Sadowsky and the like, G&L's give you that final Leo vision.

All of this is of course IMO, IME, etc etc, and YMMV.
