Another Waterslide Question

Postby ampig » Fri Jul 17, 2009 9:40 am

I've got a fully finished neck with no decal. I plan on applying a decal that Butch made for me years ago. Is there a way to seal over just the decal without having to refinish the entire headstock? What is the downside of applying the decal on top of the existing finish with no sealer"?

It will flake a fall off after a while.

It might be a hassle to remove the tuners, but it will end up looking better if you just apply some clear over the decal.

Make the first few coats very light and and barely let it dry between them to feather the decal, then a few "wet" coats with normal drying times to get a nice glossy finish.

I am no expert, but that is how I did mine.
