Replace MM-Style P'up for 5-String

Postby Sloom » Tue Mar 30, 2010 9:36 am

Hey everybody,
I'm looking for a bar-mag type p'up for a very narrow-spaced 5-string MM knock-off. I't got mounting ears, and although the bass' string spacing is real narrow the pole-pieces appear to not accommodate that spacing.

Anyway, point is I'm having a heck of a time finding a drop-in. Anyone have a recommendation? Barts? EMG? I'd like a phat, punchy, raw sound, and don't think either of these will do, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: The bass is the Dillion VMB-500 here: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c179/ ... lionam.jpg

Note if you will the way the strings hit near the edges of the outer-most pole-pieces. Thanks for any insights.

Seriously? Got a model# in mind? Bar-type? Those don't look anything like a MM 'bucker- which could be alright if it sounds like a fat, punchy bass p'up.

I have an old Peavey Super-Ferrite for 4-string, which looks like it might work. Might have to try it this weekend... I can always reverse again- the Peavey is a little narrower than the orig p'up, and much shorter bridge-to-neck. What the hey...
