any tricks to fixing bad latches on a bass case?

Postby andrew » Sat Mar 05, 2011 3:51 pm

I have a Fender style case (actually from/for a Rickenbacker) with the spring loaded latches that pop open when you slide the button to open them. One won't stay closed. It'll close for a moment, but one good shake of the case will pop the latch open again.

Anyone have any tips to getting the latch to stay closed again?

The latch is catch is probably bent. If you can see it at all . . . . catch it with a small screwdrive or grab it with a small long nose plier or a little hemostat and try moving it back into position s-l-o-w-ly
