CA finish on rosewood fretless fingerboard

Postby rsnell22 » Sun Jun 22, 2014 7:03 pm

One of the basses I de-fretted a few years back is a G&L L-2500.
I want to put a hard face on it and I notice that Carvin and a few others use CA glue.

Wondering if anyone here has used CA rather than epoxy.

I've used cyanoacrilite to harden up the fibers in spalted maple and curly redwood..... Haven't tried it on a fingerboard.

I don't see the need for further hardening on a Rosewood, Ebony, or pau Ferro fingerboards..... for maple, I'd do WEST system or an equivalent epoxy.

even with rounds, a rosewood/PF/Ebony board will last a long time before you need it to be resurfaced.

Here is another guide if you go with glue http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Re ... _bass.html
It definetly changes the sound quite a bit.
