NEW Fully carved bass 4 ME!

NEW Fully carved bass 4 ME!

Well, if you NAMM attendees were wondering where I was today, I was picking out a new upright. I have been looking and playing every bass I could get my hands on to find a certian sound that is in my head.

I tried a sweet KIng Mortone, a 58 Kay, a bunch of Shens, a bunch of chirstophers, a really cool 53 Epiphone E-5, and every bass at Lemur music that was under 20k.

I am happy to say, I found the bass that had "the sound"; a beat up prototype removable neck bass. It has survived a broken scroll and neck, and since it was already broken, it was used as a test bed to make a removable neck bass for Lee Rocker without actually hacking up his bass. It works flawlessly and I can take it off and get it back on in about 5 minutes.

Anyway, this bass had more mids, more growl, and a tighter bass than anything I have played by a big margin. The volume is surprising and tone is cutting.

The folks at Lemur were very helpful and Jerry was nice enough to sell me a bass that was not for sale. See, I walked in, there are about 25 basses in there and there was nobody around. So, I just started grabbing them and playing thinking they must be all for sale, evidently this was a special bass, not supposed to be for sale, but I really took a liking to it and they were nice enough to part with it.

Sorry no pics yet, I have some camera issues right now, but I will post as soon as I can. If I can stop playing it for 5 minutes.......

It is a Laguna bass, made in Korea from kiln dried canadian spruce and maple. It has been around the world 5 times since it has been repaired and made neck removable.

Ok, well I was able to take some phone pics. Which is really hard because all I want to do is play her. Just like a new girl [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif]

Jerry and the folks at Lemur are indeed a class act. They are very helpful...even if you're not a big money spender.
